What Is It
If you've ever been to a Korean spa, you are quite familiar with Italy towels. These are the best and worst invention ever. They are physically exfoliating your skin and basically taking off your top twenty layers of skin. They are not a permanent fix for KP (keratosis pilaris) but my skin did feel extremely smooth and amazing!
You can buy Italy towels from a lot of places; I bought mine from Amazon. Steven Yeun from The Walking Dead and Conan O'Brian went to a Korean spa and got worked over with an Italy Towel (go to 4:50) and it was hilarious!
When To Use It
You should soak in the tub in hot water for a while and relax. Then when you're done, go to town with the towel! These are for the best results. You should only do this about once a week, if that. I will probably be doing it once every two or three weeks. It's extremely rough physical exfoliation, but your skin will feel so smooth afterwards!
How To Use It
If you're using the glove washcloth, put your hand in it and scrub away. If you're using the towel washcloth, use it like a regular washcloth. Do not put any soap or bath wash in the towel; you don't need it. Just scrub like hell, just don't scrub your face!
The Italy towel didn't completely eradicate my KP, my arms felt incredibly smooth. I also did not soak in the tub because my stopper for the drain doesn't fit and I haven't called the maintenance guy to come fix it. These are also incredibly affordable, and depending how long you want to wait for shipping or how close you live to a Koreatown or Little Tokyo, you can get them as low as $2 a towel. It's very similar to a loofah, they are mostly generic kinds out there and they have
This is very harsh physical exfoliation for your skin, so I wouldn't advise this to be a daily or even weekly occurrence.
As I said earlier, my KP didn't completely go away. I also didn't soak in hot water for the best results. But the towel is basically like sandpaper for your skin! I would definitely recommend this towel if you're interested about it! My red bumps appears much smaller and less red (after the initial redness went down) and my skin was much smoother. But a few days later the KP started appearing again so keep that in mind. :-) If you try this, let me know how it goes!
