Where has this year gone? It seems like 2014 has flown by! This was a hallmark year for us! We spent out first full year in New York City. I turned 30. I got into makeup. I got a nice camera. I got obsessed with makeup. I got super into skincare too. All in all, I'm a lot poorer than I would have been, but it's been an amazing year and I can't wait to see what 2015 has in store!
Let's jump right into my makeup favorites! I hate playing favorites with my lovelies but oh well... that's the name of the game! First, face makeup. I love my skin79 BB Cream. I love this and it goes so well with my skin! For my summer shade I love Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream in Natural Beige. You can find this cheaper but the shipping times will vary. My beloved Perricone's No Foundation Foundation is a great foundation! It's got some skincare goodies in which which is why I always gravitate towards BB Creams! I was so excited to get this and it has lived up to my expectations!
A blush I have been loving have been Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Face Blush in Something About Berry. I would love to get the other ones later on! I love Illamasqua's Allure powder blush. Illamasqua has the most pigmented blushes I've ever used! One swipe with my brush and I have to tap a few times and then blend like crazy! Sometimes I have to FaceTime with a friend in New Orleans to make sure I don't have clown face!
My favorite highlighters are too many to name! The ones I reach for most is the highly pigmented TheBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer. This sucker is so pigmented! I do one very light swipe with my brush and it can do both my cheekbones! I've found this cheaper on overstock.com (out of stock right now) and amazon so be sure to check those places out too! I love The Face Shop's liquid High Lighter Beam, a great dupe for Benefit's High Beam. There is about a $10 price different with High Beam being more expensive. I was unsure about the nail polish applicator but a few dots on my cheekbones then I blend it in with my fingers and it's just divine! God I love highlighters. Ever since I got Becca's Opal I have been in highlighter heaven! It's a real place. Trust me. It's real and it's filled with Opal. I love it. I'm going to be buried with this. It's wonderful and you should get it.
My favorite bronzers are Benefit's Hoola Bronzer. Technically, I haven't really used this for bronzing that much, mostly for contouring. I just love it! My other all time favorite bronzer is Perricone's No Bronzer Bronzer. I loved this during summer and fall. Anything liquid is super intimidating but it's amazing for dry skinned gals and guys and actually very easy to work with. The only thing you need to be careful of is you need to empty the ampoule in the bottle, screw the lid/ampoule back on, then shake to mix up the product. Then put it on the back of your hand and go to town! I love this bronzer! I haven't used it in a while as I'm always reaching for my Hoola Bronzer. I'll need to take this out of winter retirement for my next full face.
My favorite eye makeup is quite long and I apologize in advanced... but I'm not really sorry! First, my beloved Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner in black. It's a felt tip pen and just wonderful. 'Nuff said. I have finally found a mascara that works and doesn't transfer! I use Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum as a primer, and sometimes at night as a serum. Then after it's dry, I put on my Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara. If there is something better than this, I'd like to know. I can't imagine anything better than this. It works so well with my lashes I can't get over it. And this may seem trivial to some, but finding the right lash curler with your eyes makes all the different. I went from a Revlon curler to a Shiseido lash curler and it's made a huge difference. My flatter eyes never really worked with the Revlon curler. I'm interested in the Shu Umera one but I'll save that for another day.
For eyeshadows, I have loved my Charlotte Tilbury Fallen Angels quad. I love how you can do numerous looks with this quad and it's just so beautiful! I have been loving my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette as well. I was quite hesitant of the pinky hues and I was afraid of looking sick, but once you practice and learn what colors go with what you're wearing, you won't look sick- you'll look fabulous! My go-to looks are Illamasqua's Hollow with Furore on top, or Hollow with Kevyn Aucoin's loose shimmer shadows in Candlelight, Rose Quartz, and Topaz. God I love these colors. There are two other colors I need to get my grubby hands on. But I digress! Now fair warning, I've never been too impressed with these colors in the packaging but when they're swatched, they're lovely!
Lipsticks. Oh dear. Where do I begin... Well one of my favorite nudes is Too Faced Melted Nude. This is such a beautiful color. Now I can't get it to stay for a very long time but it's still worth it! I love it! And it smells like vanilla! I love Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso. This is my favorite red and it gives me life! Every girl needs a kickass red in her life and for me, Beso is it! And I know this isn't terribly exciting, but I love MUFE's clear lip liner- Lip Line Perfector. Why get a million different lip liners when one will do the trick with most of the colors?
I just have so many loves it's hard to narrow it down! I didn't even mention my beloved Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes or Powders. Or any of my OCC Lip Tars. I could just write about my collection and go on and on. I must be stopped. What were your 2014 favorites?
