My very good friend Jessica and her boyfriend were redecorating their apartment and since I love to decorate, I gladly helped them out! I put together a pinterest page for inspiration and compiled an email of ideas from Wayfair, Ikea, Target, and lots of other places! As a thank you, they very generously gave me a gift card to Nordstrom! I couldn't contain my excitement! I had been eyeing a few things so this was the perfect time to get them!
I immediately went to Charlotte Tilbury's Filmstar Bronze and Glow! I'm a sucker for packaging so I fell in love with this at first sight. I'm also a sucker for highlighters, as you'll see later. It is very hefty and includes a nice mirror. The sculpting powder (aka bronzer) is lighter and slightly more shimmery than Benefit Hoola Bronzer. It's perfect for a subtle look which is perfect during wintertime for me when I've lost all my color! The glow (aka highlighter) is slightly darker than TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer with a slightly more peachy tone to it. Again, this is perfect for a sublet look but is buildable. Coming in at $65.00, this is a rather pricey item, but if you split the price in two, each item is $32.50 and that seems more reasonable. I thought this would make the perfect travel duo or for the person who doesn't have a lot of room.
The next thing I was looking at was the limited edition Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Mini Lipstick Charm Trio. Now be forewarned, these are very tiny lipsticks, comparable to the MUFE birthday gift from Sephora. The Tom Ford Lips and Boys are bigger as well. If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with how they smell, and they smell wonderful- like vanilla! I was very pleased! They also have a lovely application and touch ups are a breeze.
A full sized CT K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick is $32.00, so for $39.00 you get a mini trio so this is a fantastic way to try out the lipsticks. If you ask me, there should be two sizes of makeup- full sized and a mini. The colors you receive are Penelope Pink, So Marilyn, and Bitch Perfect. Now this is limited edition (bleh... I hate limited edition) but the colors in this set are in her permanent line, so if you miss out on this you can still purchase the colors individually.
And bonus! They can be put on your tree! But let's get real... I'll be using these too much for them to stay on there!
Lastly, my beloved Candlelight by Kevyn Aucoin. Sigh... Need I say more? That packaging! When you take it out of the box, it comes in a small velvet pouch. I could not bear to throw them out so I keep them inside or on top of the pouches. I know it's unrealistic and I will probably eventually get rid of them, but they are so pretty! I love highlighters. If I could own all the highlighters in the world I would be so happy! TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer is a gold toned luminizer whereas Candlelight is an apricot-golden luminizer and just heavenly! I use TheBalm when I want an in-your-face highlighter so Candlelight is much more subtle. At $44.00 and .11 oz., this is on the more expensive end; an Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder is $45.00 and .35 oz. But this is his signature product and worth it in my humble opinion. This also makes a beautiful inner eye and under brow highlight! It's so beautiful and so sublet, it's a must have for every beauty guru!
