Matt and I went out Thursday night to celebrate his big raise and bonus at Ajisai Sushi, which he completely deserves! Ever since Matt tried a sweet potato tempura roll he now likes sushi! Well... at least two types of sushi, sweet potato tempura roll and egg tamago. But it's a start, right? But I don't care. I am just so happy we can go get sushi together; usually when I go out with my girlfriends I always suggest sushi because I never get to go with Matt!
Well, looks like I got the right Diet Coke can. :-)
The Mini Sushi Pizzas are one of my favorite appetizers of all time! What? Sushi pizza? The base is a round fried wonton topped with all sorts of yumminess! The spicy crab is probably my favorite, the middle one! Even though it's on top of a fried wonton, it still comes off as very light because the toppings are very light and they just go down so easily! If you ever eat at Ajisai, please do yourself a favor and get this!
An oldie but a goodie! Matt got the kalbi from here the first time we came here and it was great! Thankfully they serve it with a fork and knife, so I just cut up the meat on the plate then we just used chopsticks. I wouldn't have expected the kalbi to be that great, but it was! The meat was very tender, flavorful, and delicious!
I'm such a sucker for a spider roll. I couldn't resist ordering this roll and it was great! The sauce was a little spicy but everything balanced out really well. And the soft shell crab was just that, very soft and easy to eat! If I could eat three of these everyday, I would!
Well if these aren't the biggest sweet potato tempura rolls you've ever seen, I'd like to go eat sushi with you! Matt tried this on a whim because there was nothing "weird" in the roll and I'm so glad he did because he really likes it now! And this is one of the best sweet potato rolls I've ever had!
Do you know the Modern Family episode where Claire becomes furious because she always tried to get Phil to eat a wedge salad and he never does (Regrets Only, 2.16)? Then a co-worker suggests a wedge salad to Phil and he loves it, comes home and tells Claire she should order one! Well, this is what happened with Matt and me with tiramisu. I love it and have asked Matt to try it. Then magically he comes home one day and tells me all about it and I just rolled my eyes. So when I saw the tiramisu cup on the menu I wanted to order it and Matt complied. Unfortunately, this was horrible. What is the saying? Never get dessert at an Asian restaurant? Well, I was here with a friend and we got the banana spring roll and it was great! But the tiramisu looks like it was pre-made, which there's nothing wrong with that, but it also looked like the whipped cream was sitting on there for a while. It was overly sweet and just not pleasant at all. Needless to say we didn't finish dessert.
All in all, this was a great meal! I have never had a bad meal here, even with the awful dessert it was still a great meal! I cannot wait to go back here!
Side Note: I didn't filter the food pictures; I wanted them to be true to form as much as possible.
