Anne had wanted dim sum again so I took her back to Red Egg! And of course we ordered off of the dim sum menu but I was craving fried rice so we ordered that too!
After we ordered, they asked how we wanted the food to come (dim sum first, fried rice last) and we just said to bring it out as it's all ready! I was also hoping we could save room for dessert but of course we couldn't!
Chicken fried rice. This isn't life changing but it's so good! And I'm always hesitant the meat will be overcooked and dry but the chicken was delicious and moist! I will definitely order this again!
Garlic spare ribs. Do I need to go on? These are fatty and not too garlicy but just so delicious! Please remember to order these when you go there!
These are the crispy shrimp rolls. This was the first time ordering them and I don't know what I was expecting, but these are great! They were served with duck sauce and it just hit the spot. They are very thin but it's perfect that way! I really enjoyed these!
I wanted a bun so we decided on the veggie and pork buns. Well, these were very unsatisfactory. The bun itself was great and very light and airy. The filling was pretty lacking in flavor, and there wasn't a lot in there, which I would have liked a little bit more but I didn't mind overall.
Anne is a big fav of turnip cakes so of course we ordered some. They aren't my favorite but these didn't taste like they normally do, and the restaurant wasn't busy which was a little disappointing.
Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) were not good at all. I was so disappointed in these. I didn't even realize they had these and had never ordered them before. Well, save it. If you're craving XLB head over to Shanghai Cafe Deluxe or XO Taste or even the overrated, overly busy Joe's Shanghai. Three of them had already leaked all the unctuous broth out and you were left with a very thick disappointing wrapper and a mediocre filling.
