Matt and I happened to be in the East Village so we stopped in at Crif Dogs for a quick bite to eat! It was about 3 pm on a Sunday afternoon and this was the least busy I've ever seen it! It's fairly unassuming but the quirky Halloween decorations was such a fun touch of the holidays! Most of the time we go it's extremely packed with no seats available. By the time you order you're just praying a stool or chair opens up! Also, if you walk through the phone booth inside, you'll be transported to a speak easy called Please Don't Tell. Matt and I have never successfully gotten in because it's always so crowded by the time we get there.
I ended up ordering the BLT dog and a side of tater tots. Sadly, they are now doing fries and tots so it wasn't all glorious tots but that's ok. I didn't need to eat them all anyway. The hot dogs are wrapped in bacon and deep fried, then topped with whatever you'd like. The BLT really hit the spot! I could have eaten another one and skipped the tots! Crif Dogs is open until 4 am on weekends so if you're stumbling out of the bar on St. Marks, make your way to Crif Dogs if you haven't already!
